Sound Matters workshop
Discover the materiality of artworks through sound. Evoking the gestures of modern and contemporary artists, create sound effects with wood, sand, paper and metal. In the workshop, listen to the recorded sounds and compose an improvised soundscape.
This ongoing sound workshop was originally conceived for the Museum of Modern Art, Paris for both children and adults, some of whom have physical or mental disabilities and mental health problems.

Participants are invited to discover the works of Picasso, Toroni, Picabia and Arman in the museum's permanent collection then, using contact microphones and a simple recording device, they create sounds using everyday objects such as paper, plastic bottles, rulers, cellophane, metal chairs, sand, rubber bands, and stones. These recordings are then transformed and manipulated in real time to become part of an improvised soundscape.
