Ferry ride
Anne Rompp, Jana Zahradkova and Marko Timlin used sound in motion as the theme for their piece. The recordings of breathing, footsteps as they ran up and downstairs, and the swings in a children's playground were edited into a three minute loop. Listeners were then invited aboard the sonic ferry (see photos below ) and placed in front of a mono speaker. Captain Marko then pushed the listener up and down the long corridor. The recordings, modified with electronic effects, merged beautifully with the squeaky wheels of the trolley (listen below). The listener feels and hears the vibrating mono sounds from the speaker and the added stereo from the un-oiled wheels, over the background noise of the laughing crowd.
